THE LEGACY GOLF CLUB – THE CLOSEST THING TO A SURE BET! |
Back in the day, a trip to Las Vegas meant bright lights and pinging slots packaged with a couple of, not always compliant, Bengal Tigers. This successfully attracted the thrill-seeking gamer in us all, but left the sportsmen to wither in the bowels of a smoke-filled sportsbook. Since then a lot has changed. Las Vegas has blossomed into a world-class golf destination with just as much activity on the links as on the craps table. Okay then, where should the golfer play? As one will quickly find out, Googling “Vegas Golf” begins a confusing cascade of flashing websites that are sketchy at best. So, cut the confusion, and make sure your next Las Vegas vacation includes a round at The Legacy Golf Club.

Designed by acclaimed golf course architect Arthur Hills, The Legacy Golf Club can best be described as a blast to play. It tips-out at 7,233 yards, allowing low handicappers to “stretch their legs” while offering multiple tee boxes to accommodate players of all abilities. Although considered to be a desert-style course, The Legacy has an open feel when compared to a typical desert course where thin ribbons of grass masquerade as fairways.
The par-3 10th hole at The Legacy is the most recognizable in Las Vegas. Each tee box is carved into the shape of a playing card suit: Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs and Spades. Also notorious is the “Devil’s Triangle” – holes 11, 12, and 13 – which make for a devilish trio of exciting challenges. Eleven is a straightaway, long, ball-striker’s par 4; 12 is a severe dogleg left with options galore, and 13 is a drivable par 4 with a huge lava rock-filled wash running along the left side. If you’re down a few holes coming into this triple-threat, you should press. If you’re ahead, watch out.

Professionally managed by OB Sports Golf Management, The Legacy has become synonymous in Las Vegas for providing country club-style services and amenities. In fact, Golf Digest selected The Legacy as one of the “Top 10 Courses You Can Play” in Las Vegas. Other accolades and awards include “Best Golf Course in Southern Nevada” in the Las Vegas Review Journal’s internet poll, “Top 500 Courses to Play in America” by Golf Digest and “Best Course in Southern Nevada” in Nevada Magazine’s Reader’s Poll.
A popular venue for numerous golf tournaments and golf outings, The Legacy has hosted the local U.S. Open Qualifier for 13 consecutive years as well as several American Junior Golf Association events for 10 consecutive years.
