Harding Park Golf Course was opened on July 18, 1925, named after US President Warren G. Harding.
A major renovation and restoration of this historic golf course began in the spring of 2002. The 15 month long project expanded the course from 6,743 to 7,200 yards along with major upgrades to the driving range and clubhouse, bringing them up to PGA Tour standards. On August 22, 2003, Harding Park Golf Course was officially reopened.
In 2005, Harding Park Golf Course once again hosted a world class professional golf event, the American Express Golf Championship, its first PGA Tour event since 1969.
Agreements between Harding Park, the city of San Francisco and the PGA Tour will bring several more World class golf tournaments to Harding Park Golf Course over the next decade, including the upcoming 2009 Presidents Cup.
