Lagoon Legend, the golf course known as one of the toughest and most challenging courses in the Florida Panhandle, underwent an “extreme makeover.”
The course closed in November 2004. Construction is complete on the new course and re-opened under its new name, the Nicklaus Course at Bay Point, on September 17, 2005.
The Nicklaus Design team was selected to completely redesign and spearhead the project.
The redesign consists of a complete renovation including the re-building of the tees, bunkers, and greens, as well as re-contouring of the fairways.
This par-72 championship-caliber course measures over 7,100 yards and is the first Nicklaus course in the Florida Panhandle.
The new course will offer a dramatic and enjoyable challenge for novice and avid golfers.
It incorporates the natural terrain of scrub oaks, pines and salt-water marshes and offers panoramic views of St. Andrew’s Bay.
The new course opened to rave reviews and was just named by Travel + Leisure Golf as one of the most worthy redesigns and notable debuts in the state of Florida. |
