The east gulf coastal plain area of Georgia is located at the western edge of Georgia along the Alabama state line and south to the Florida line. Columbus is the major city in the area.
Columbus is one of Georgia's three Fall Line Cities, along with Augusta and Macon. The Fall Line is where the hilly lands of the Piedmont plateau meet the flat terrain of the coastal plain. As such, Macon has a varied landscape of rolling hills on the north side and flat plains on the south.
The climate in South Georgia is generally mild and moist in the winter with summers that can be quite hot and humid. Precipitation is fairly well distributed throughout the year; there are no wet or dry seasons.
