With $15 million invested in the most aggressive renovation in it's 27-year history, Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, near Traverse City, Michigan is indeed grand, new and inspiring. Grand Traverse Resort was named among the Top 50 travel destinations by Condé Nast Traveler and is a Golf Magazine Silver Medal Resort.
Grand Traverse Resort & Spa is renowned for many things, but the golf experience is among the best anywhere. Grand Traverse's three signature courses, The Wolverine, The Bear and Spruce Run were designed by top golf course designers Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and William Newcomb respectively.
Named for the fierce and cunning Michigan forest-dweller, Gary Player's signature course, The Wolverine weaves through water and wetlands on the front nine, and highland terrain with hardwoods and views of Grand Traverse Bay on the back nine.
Designed by golf great Jack Nicklaus, The Bear is Grand Traverse's best-known course and described as one of the toughest in the Midwest. You'll quickly appreciate this beautiful par 72, links-style course featuring Scottish terraced fairways, tiered greens, deep grassy roughs, moguls, mounds, and deep pot bunkers.
Designed by former University of Michigan golf coach William Newcomb, Spruce Run was aptly named to reflect the numerous fir and spruce trees that line its fairways and undulating greens. The course gracefully winds among the rolling hills overlooking East Grand Traverse Bay. |
